Position Summary
Position Title: SQL DBA
Location: Birmingham, AL
Work Type: Direct Hire
Responsibilities
The Database Administrator is responsible for the database development for Web based applications and services.
Design, install, monitor, maintain, and performance tune production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability.
Deploy SQL code to production servers.
Work with application development staff to develop database
architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and
procedures.
Work with the SQA group to assure best quality and rapid turn around for changes that surface during testing.
Understand the cost and time constraints imposed on assigned tasks & alert before an overrun occurs.
Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software
Work with the Requirements/Product Management group to assure business needs are met through the implementation process.
Must be positive, enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated
3-5 years experience with database structures, theories, principles, and
practices.
Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Has analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
Minimum of 3 years of commercial development experience
Exposure to C#/.Net a plus
Exposure to ASP a plus
Experience with Software Development Lifecycle
Strong communication skills
Exposure to Business Intelligence practices, with an emphasis on ETL development, a plus
Must have good communications skills and able to problem solve.
Demonstrated recent experience in Microsoft SQL Server (3 years min)
Database development experiences in a tiered .Net environment a plus.
SQL Server DTS
SQL Server Integration Services required
Proficient in T-SQL
Replication
Idera software a plus
SQL LiteSpeed software a plus
College degree in the field of computer science and/or 4 years
equivalent work experience.
