POSITION TITLE: Product Manager
LOCATION: Oakville, Ontario
DURATION: Contract (3 Months)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As Product Manager, you will be responsible for crystallizing customer and product requirements, as well as partnering with project management, product development, and sales to develop an understanding of target customers and key user scenarios. With that knowledge you will build comprehensive Market and Product Requirements documents that prioritize product features, map out product direction, and exceed competitive offerings. You will also act as a product evangelist, based on a thorough understanding of the product capabilities, competitive positioning, and technical marketing considerations.
Primary Objectives:
- Champion of their product line internally to the company and externally to the outside world. He/she is responsible for its ultimate financial and market success.
- Ensure continued market viability of the product line throughout the development of new products and enhancements to existing products.
- Play a key cross functional coordination role throughout the company in support of their product line.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage product portfolio and maintain product roadmap. Champion new product concepts, enhancements to existing products and end of life when required.
- Develop customer and competitive research from end users, channel partners, sales, market research and other internal and external sources.
- Create and maintain comprehensive Market and Product Requirements Documents
- Work with Engineering to balance product requirements and resource constraints to establish achievable product development schedules.
- Define, track, and improve key product metrics.
- Create the product marketing plan, including packaging, positioning, messaging, pricing.
- Create and deliver field and partner training, representing the product line with press and analysts and at trade shows, and support product reviews when necessary.
- Work with all areas of organization to ensure readiness for new product including, engineering, services, education, finance, administration, sales, and support.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in engineering, computer science; MBA or equivalent experience preferred.
- 5+ years of Product Management experience with a proven track record in defining and launching high-technology software products.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to interact with customers, partners and foster cross-functional teamwork among Sales, Marketing, and Engineering.
- Strong technical skills with an ability to quickly assimilate new ideas and concepts and to translate customer application needs to product requirements.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and communication skills.
- Solid understanding of storage market, data protection industry, or equivalent.
