Job Summary
The Database Designer will be responsible for understanding existing data models and defining new ones as needed, as well as performing modifications to a large scale enterprise Oracle application supporting several business units. The Database Designer will collaborate with the Technical Architect and developers during the design and build process to create practical designs that meet or exceed business needs while maintaining world class system and application performance. Also, candidate should have DBA experience with Oracle RDBMS, taking from logical to physical our data conversion efforts and tuning.
This is a full-time position with our company. No travel is required.
Primary Responsibilities
--Analyze business problems and requirements to determine the appropriate database design and data models to fit within and add to the existing data structures.
--Ensure the technical quality of all database modeling and development.
--Ensure software performance and scalability by designing and employing practical database design and scalable deployment infrastructures.
--Manage imports and loads to facilitate data migrations and integrations.
--Develop high-quality, standardized SQL and PL/SQL code (stored procedures, queries, etc.).
--Define and adhere to standardized application development lifecycle methodology and coding standards.
--Deliver high-quality data designs that are accurate, efficient, standardized, and well documented.
--Meet deadlines consistently and produce quality deliverables on-time and within-budget.
--Ensure quality, modularity, availability, scalability and performance of the databases developed.
--Build effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Job Qualifications
--Excellent leadership skills, interpersonal skills and verbal/written communications skills are required.
--Minimum of 3 years of database design experience developing complex, scalable enterprise level systems on Oracle, preferable in conjunction with BEA WebLogic Platform.
--Minimum of 3 years designing and developing large databases.
--Minimum of 3 years experience deploying Oracle databases in conjunction with J2EE compliant application servers.
--Demonstrated technology vision and the ability to understand the enterprise perspective. and how the applications and subject areas fit into the overall business picture.
--Excellent analytical ability, strong judgment and problem analysis techniques.
Excellent understanding and effective deployment of software engineering processes, procedures, tools and industry standards.
--Understanding of advanced software development methodologies and concepts.
--High ethical standards along with the flexibility to work with a diverse group of people.
--Bachelor of Science computer science or engineering is required.
--Masters Degree highly desirable.
