SUMMARY
Responsible for developing, testing and supporting high volume transaction processing FoxPro systems. This position is key in transitioning and then supporting our move to .NET for many of the legacy FoxPro applications currently in use. As functionality is moved to PowerBuilder systems and .NET systems minimal support duties on the remaining FoxPro applications will still be required but will become an increasingly diminished requirement of the position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Act as technical lead on projects; responsible for all technical aspects of the project including accurate estimates, detailed design, development, unit testing and documentation to ensure there are little to no defects and a solid understanding of the delivered product.
• Work on multiple enhancement and custom programming projects simultaneously completing them within estimated timeframes
• Make complex modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with design specifications and department standards
• Develop new cross-functional software systems using disciplined software development processes; makes recommendations toward the development of reusable routines or components
• Translate high level business and/or technical requirements into cross-functional business application systems
• Resolve support issues accurately and in a timely manner
• Complete knowledge transfers to peers, support staff, and quality assurance personnel when required
Skills/ Requirements Degree in Computer Science or related field.
3+ years experience with MS SQL Server 2000+
Strong experience in SQL, including experience writing Stored Procedures and Triggers.
Experience with maintaining existing systems and supporting users
Demonstrated experience with FoxPro / Visual Foxpro v 2.5 -- 5.0 (3+ years)
Experience and knowledge of FoxWeb is desired
PowerBuilder experience desired but not required.
Internet-based & distributed application development in general is strongly desired, preferably within the .NET platform
Ability to work within standards and guidelines under tight deadlines.
