Duties:
• Assist the University Webmaster in the design, building, and maintenance of the University's Web site following Web standards. Use the latest-technology techniques and tools to design and develop effective interactive and dynamic sites.
• Perform front-end design, prototyping, testing and development tasks, for new and existing web applications, using CSS, Javascript, (X)HTML, AJAX and browser-neutral strategies; serve as a technical resource for these technologies.
• Apply user-centered design process to create high-quality customer experiences. Participate in efforts to bring website into compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508).
• Provide technical support to departmental web authors, including writing clear and concise documentation. Assist in supervision of student web developers.

Qualifications:
• Required: Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences or related field. Experience with (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Web 2.0 technologies, and server-side scripting languages such as ASP, ASP.net, PHP, and JSP. Experience developing browser- and platform-neutral web sites. Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills, and attention to details. Understanding of Section 508 and other accessibility issues.

• Preferred: Experience with user-centered design process. Experience working as part of a web development team. Strong ASP skills, strong project management skills, with ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.

Starting Date: July 1, 2008

Conditions of Appointment: Full-time Academic Staff position. The UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in a state pension plan.
