We are searching for PhDs in Computer Science, Math, or Physics, with strong Java skills, to join an Intelligence Community R&D group in Northern VA. Our client tackles some of the most complex, intellectually-stimulating problems in the Intelligence Community by bringing together a multi-disciplinary team made up of Computer Scientists, Mathematicians, Physicists, Social Scientists, and Intelligence Community subject matter experts and theorists.
This is a group of very intelligent people, extremely high levels of collaboration, and a research-and-development mentality. This is a very similar to an academic research group environment (but with much nicer facilities and much better compensation).
Our client has very high standards. They value MS and PhD degrees highly, especially in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. People in their group need to be strong in Java development and have expert-level skills in OO-based software architecture, design, and development. They must have experience solving complex problems and have a strong algorithmic background.
Strong brains, great java skills, and an R&D / academic mindset are the keys. Our client wants the best people in the nation.
Much of our client's work is focused on national security, so if you don't have an active clearance, our client will fully sponsor you for one, up to and potentially above the TS/SCI level. For this reason, our client can consider only US citizens.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- US citizenship (Secret clearance or above is preferred, TS/SCI is ideal)
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely-related discipline
- Strong experience in Java-based software engineering
- An ability to succeed in a Research & Development atmosphere
- A desire for a highly-collaborative, unstructured work environment
Candidates with the following are highly desired:
- Prior experience working in DoD or Intelligence Community research
- A commitment to agile software development methodologies
- A background in computational simulation of physical or social systems
- A strong background in implementation and development of algorithms
- Experience with low-level programming in Unix, C, C++, and other languages
