The Senior Network Engineer will act as the Council's computer services Senior Engineer. The principal responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

• Providing LAN support and configuration of hardware and software, router setup, diagnostics, traffic shaping.
• Providing network switching infrastructure support, including ability to set up VLANs; run diagnostics; traffic shaping and analysis.
• Providing firewall support including setting up VPNs, proxy services, traffic analysis, intrusion penetration detection analysis, testing, network behavior analysis, anomalous traffic identification and mitigation.
• Reporting potential problems in computer network architecture, application software or any other Information Services operations to the attention of Information Services management.
• Assisting in all Information Services projects, including software, Servers and hardware installations and upgrades, monthly system and switches maintenance and wiring.
• Monitor network health and performance using utilities such as Symantec Bindview and Performance IT, and appliances such as Fluke Optiview, and Stealthwatch Network Behavior Analysis tool
• Providing on-call technical support as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BA degree or similar certifications in a related field with strong academic credentials
• At least 3 to 5 years of related work experience
• MCSE, CCNA, VB Scripting, and firewall experienced strongly preferred
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong customer service skills
• Ability to work independently
• Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite, desktop and server operating systems, and programming experience a plus
• Functional knowledge of Citrix Metaframe, VOIP, Netapp, Firewall, Vmware, Patchlink and Altiris a plus
• Ability to lift and carry weight in excess of 30 pounds
