The goal of the HPC Software Stack team is to provide a well-architected, integrated software stack from the kernel and distro up to parallel file system and MPI. A verification test suite will ensure that all components are working together as expected: when you upgrade or replace a component, you can test the stack to make sure that nothing "broke". The team will also produce documentation and training materials for both HPC sales reps as well as field service engineers. The team will also take level 3 escalations from Sun support channels.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* integrate and maintain network software components for the Sun Linux HPC solution, including Infiniband (OpenIB) support
* test and verify new versions of network drivers with the integrated software stack
* collaborate closely with the Lustre Networking, Release Management, and other groups to keep software stacks closely aligned
* provide technical support to complementary Sun groups and directly to customers
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
* technical experience with parallel file systems and high performance computing applications
* some occasional world travel is required (2-3 times per year to the US, Russia, or China); employee is required to maintain a valid passport
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
* kernel development experience with Linux, particularly the networking stack
* kernel development experience with TCP and OpenIB network drivers for Linux
* very good written and verbal English communcation
* experience working with remote teams
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
* supporting large-scale GigE and OpenIB network solutions, including routed configurations
* experience with Solaris kernel development
