CMM Programmer (Manufacturing & Production -- Computer-controlled machine tool operator - Metal) -- Huntsville, AL -- Full-time, permanent

Detailed Job Description

Work for a premier supplier of a diversified range of aerospace, defense and aircraft industry leaders in the precision machining, fabrication, and assembly of tooling and components including space flight hardware. They are located in one of the key hubs of the nation's most important areas for development and growth to compliment these industries - Huntsville, Alabama. This area is fast becoming a strong competitor in software engineering, information systems design, engineering services and manufacturing in support of NASA, DOD, and the aircraft industry. They are organized into four major service areas: Precision Machining, Fabrication/Welding and Sheet Metal, Assembly and Testing, and Metal Finishing.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Use precision inspection devices such as but not limited to, calipers, measuring tape, micrometers, height gages, and coordinate measuring machine (CMM) to perform inspections of fabricated and purchased parts. Communicate with fabrication departments on conformance to specification of any tool or operation. Write programs to measure parts using PC-DMIS software without assistance. Identify and implement improvements in equipment design to enhance performance of the CMM. Interface with Design Engineering to transfer CAD generated drawings into measurement programs without assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BASIC SKILLS:

• High School diploma or the equivalent.
• Understanding of PC Dimis and Virtual Dimis programming.
• Understanding Geo-Metric Tolerencing.
• Working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5.
• Demonstrate use of Microsoft Excel and Word using good writing skills.
• Previous fabrication/sheet metal forming experience or equivalent knowledge.
• Strong background in using inspection tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, etc.
• CAD experience or knowledge will be given preference.
• Direct Computer Controlled CMM or CNC training.

2-3+ years of experience in the Aerospace industry
Minimum Education -- High school diploma or equivalent
