Review and clarify Request for Change Requests
Organize Requests for Changes into agenda for weekly Change Advisory Board Meeting.
Coordinate changes into Production computing environment as needed
Educate IT employees on Change Management process.
This is a low level QA role. It would be nice to find someone who has some understanding of Change Management. An FTE has just given notice and the current department cannot absorb the workload until the new FTE is hired. Below is the full job description?.
Job Summary:
The goal of the Change/Release Analyst is to provide expert support in the introduction of required changes into the IT environment with minimal disruption to ongoing operations. To achieve this goal, the change/release analyst is responsible for the following:
• Assisting and guiding the formal initiation of a change beginning with the submission of a request for change (RFC).
• Under the guidance of the Change Manager, assign priority and a category to the change after assessing its urgency and its impact on the infrastructure or end users. This assignment affects the speed at which the change will be addressed and the route it takes for authorization.
• Assist in the planning of the deployment of the change (a process that can vary immensely in scope and includes reviews at key interim milestones).
• Help in the coordination of similar change requests impacting similar systems in a similar time-period into a Release Package according to the defined Release schedule.
• Conduct the post-implementation review process that reviews whether the change has achieved the goals that were established for it and determines whether to keep the change or back it out.
In a dual role as change and release manager analyst, the incumbent is responsible for performing coordination activities of the change and release management process for the IT organization under the direction of the Change Manager. This individual focuses on the various changes brought forth for consideration by the change management committee under the direction of the Change Manager. While assisting the Change Manager, change/release analyst is involved in every step of the process--from receipt of an RFC to the implementation of the change in the IT environment. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing release roadmaps consistent with the solution services and demand management roadmaps. The Change/Release Analyst is responsible for reducing the impact of change and to liaise with staff at all levels and within all directorates and consultancy staff who may be engaged on any project from time to time, assisting with the specification, assignment and ensuring that work is undertaken to appropriate time scales and identified quality standards.
The Change/Release Analyst will also be required to develop, document and publish Change Management standards, Change Management plans and procedures, ensuring that these documents are updated when appropriate. In the role of Release Analyst, the incumbent will maintain and communicate the release schedule across all groups involved. The incumbent will refine, publish and track release milestones as well as communicate schedules to IT Staff and customers. The Change/Release Analyst will schedule, coordinate qualification, and publish supported hardware platforms/configurations as directed by the Change Manager.
Job Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
· Support the release and change strategy which provides the overarching design, plan and approach for the deployment of change into production.
· Implement the Change Manager's recommended design, implementation approach and management strategy relative to change and release management.
· Conducts initial review of request for change documentation. Facilitates proper prioritization, compliance with standards, and completeness.
· Facilitate approval workflow of request for change documentation based on pre-established guidelines.
· Evaluates and recommends methods and tools for streamlining and improving the changes process.
· Maintains and adapts the change management documentation where necessary.
· Creates configuration management reports. Audits the database to ensure data integrity.
· Facilitates development of a configuration management database.
· Provides management reports and data to assist in decision making.
· Assist the Change Manager in the review of change management across clients on any of all changes being scheduled.
· Participate in weekly change request calls with appropriate Steering Committee or Change Advisory Board.
· At the direction of the Change Manager, orchestrate periodic change implementations, detail calendars for change and release and communicate future release windows
· Assist the Change Manager in determining the readiness of each release based on release criteria (quality of release, release package and production environment readiness, training and support (Help Desk) plans, rollout and back-out plans and overall risk management plan).
· Provide analytic oversight into change tickets to manage and alert to possible unforeseen resource or maintenance conflicts.
· May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Other Activities:
· Provides assistance to IS departments and the Change Manager as required.

Experience and Education:

· Bachelor's Degree preferred
· 5+ years of Change Management / Release management experience at a change management office level required (not as a function of an individual project).
· 3+ years strong leadership experience preferred.
· 5+ years in various IS support and management functions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
· Strong Project Management skills; PMI certification preferred.
· IS application design and delivery is highly desirable
· Experience working in a software development environment that supports many computer platforms

· Experience creating and driving initial start-up of new departmental functions
