A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience, with a minimum 8 years relevant software development experience and five years in J2EE development. You have strong communication, project management, analytical, lateral thinking, and problem solving skills. You have detailed and broad knowledge of various web technologies. Direct experience leading and implementing technical solutions and knowledgeable of metrics for tracking its success. You are able to multi-task, establish priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Technical skills include: strong background in J2EE: JSP, Servlet, tag lib JDBC, XSLT, XML, MVC, Web Services and other Java-based technologies. Experience with Web Services development (WSDL, SOAP, UDDI, ebXML, etc) and developing test cases in jUnit. Experience with version control system CVS and Visual SourceSafe and Weblogic Application Server. Knowledge of design patterns (GOF) and J2EE design patterns.

Proficiency in ITIL, experience with databases (especially MS-SQL) and IT industry certifications relating to Java/J2EE design and development would all be considered assets.

Responsibilities include:

* Designs, writes code and completes programming according to specifications, following established development guidelines and standards.
* Provides input to design proposals to reflect costs, time required and alternative approaches to satisfy existing and future needs.
* Plans and carries out testing and debugging of applications.
* Conducts detailed analysis of defined systems specifications: developing and documenting designs that meet applicable standards and identifies, analyzes and resolves diverse software inadequacies.
* Participates in product design meetings, preparing requirements and design specifications.
* May assist in establishing project schedules, ensures assigned projects follow schedule, and informs management of any unplanned slippages.
* Provides input, reviews and validates documentation developed by the Technical Writing department.
* Assists with evaluation and testing of software products.
* Provides technical guidance to more junior staff.
* Participates in code and design reviews.
