BB&T is seeking a Data Warehouse Architect.
The individual's role is to strategically design and enhance the data warehouse, data marts, and data stores while ensuring high levels of data availability.
The successful candidate is accomplished in all aspects of data warehouse development and maintenance including design methodology and architecture, administration, and performance tuning; s/he is also competent to perform sophisticated ETL design and analyses. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Participate throughout the entire project life cycle to ensure conformance to design, overall data warehouse architectural compliance and infrastructure coordination and preparation General consulting skills, including: team facilitation/mentoring, business case development, etc. Identify any transformations or conversions required to maximize consistency and usability of the data Functional Skills: • Analytical skills, problem solving ability • System design and solution architecture expertise • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills • Ability and desire to mentor/coach others in a team environment • Strong master of SQL • Solid experience building and maintaining multidimensional data models • Implementation of OLAP cubes • Extensive experience with data warehouse methodologies • Must have several years experience working in an Data Warehouse Development area utilizing either Informatica PowerCenter product • Experience with meta data solutions • Experience with master data management solutions • Experience developing and/or coordinating Enterprise Data Governance Programs Required: • Demonstrated expertise and at least 7 years of experience as a Data Integration Architect and designer for data warehouse systems and applications • Demonstrated expertise and at least 4 years of experience in project leadership and management for data warehouse systems and applications • Extensive knowledge of IBM's Business Data Warehouse (including logical and physical data architecture) • Demonstrated expertise and at least 3 years of experience with dimensional modeling • Extensive knowledge of the DB2 Platform • Extensive knowledge of the Informatica Data Integration Platform • Extensive knowledge of the UNIX and z/OS operating systems • Proficient in planning and management of scope, work and time estimation. • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management • 5+ years of experience of large-volume relational databases considered a plus Preferred qualities: Conscientious, organized and approachable Ability to work as part of a team Strong leadership ability Ability to influence others for whom you do not have direct authority Strong verbal and written skills Self-motivated with strong work ethic and integrity
