We are working on a retained search for a client in Florida for a Chief Information Officer position. The CIO will have global responsibility over a market of eleven countries.

Responsibilities:

Direct and manage the global information technology strategies, application development, maintenance, and support activities. Primary responsibility includes the strategic direction of the company's information technology resources and the alignment of the IT function with the strategic focus of the Company.

Planning -Anticipate client information technology needs by directing the development of tactical and strategic plans for systems development. Direct the ongoing assessment of customer needs to ensure that opportunities to positively impact business performance are included in the systems plans and appropriate resources are available.

System Development and Support -- Ensure systems are developed and supported such that they meet client needs and effectively use consistent development methods, state-of-the-art technologies, and appropriate policies, procedures and standards. Lead and direct the development and implementation of all information technology directly supporting the business.

Client Communication -- Ensure that the Information Technology group is client driven by facilitating open, honest and direct communication. Direct IT activities in accordance with the priorities of the business. Manage customer expectations to agree with long-term IT direction and support capabilities.

Financial Management -- Contribute to the organizational understanding of IT and to business profitability by proper budget and administrative management, and by appropriate communication of results to client. Drive the awareness of fiscal responsibility and action throughout the IT organization.

The further globalization of the IT function.
Move to a common IT business platform (SAP) worldwide.
Supporting the growth and future direction of the business through a time of tremendous change and need for enabling technology.

Success requires building an effective information systems development and support organization with appropriate skills, organization structure, and direction to satisfy current operational goals and key business issues/priorities.

Management of the system development and support organizations to ensure optimal use of resources is essential. This includes: development of proper organization structure, selection of staff, management of performance, salary administration, career planning, and budget management.

Budget:
Headcount Responsibility: app. staff of 20 worldwide, plus vendors and contractors.

Knowledge and Experience:
10 to 15 years experience in information technology with 7 -- 10 years of general system management;
5 -- 7 years of experience managing a large systems development organization, with international experiences a plus.

College degree required with an emphasis in business or computer science. Graduate degree a plus; other independent study in business and computer science helpful.

Experience in working with a board of directors is also very important and a plus.

•Set overall direction and goals for new systems development for the organization, manage and coordinate staffing levels; direct resource allocation to ensure emphasis is placed on major strategies and high payback opportunities; direct the ongoing support of all business groups client information technology.
