The Seattle based MySpace.com Data Services team is responsible for data architecture, data infrastructure and operations for all MySpace.com data systems. The data architect will be a member of the Strategic Architecture and Development team. The candidate will be part of a team responsible for gathering and developing requirements for large scale distributed data systems. The candidate will develop system concepts and technical architecture and plan and execute development of the systems, working closely with application developers and product management.
Required Skills:
• Minimum 7 years experience in the design and development of data systems and services focusing on scalability and high performance
• Demonstrated experience with both logical and physical data modeling
• Experience in both transactional and analytical environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• In depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or 2005
• Extensive knowledge and experience with database design and optimization
• Intermediate skills in C# or vb.net
• Experience with XML, DOM, DTDs, XML Schemas and XML parsing tools
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
The candidate needs to work well in a high pressure team environment with a strong focus on Agile development processes. The candidate should be able to handle operational responsibilities with respect to the data systems' the candidate works on.
