Linux System Administrator -- Cloud Operations defines, designs and administers network systems used for data communications and recommends improvements necessary to ensure operation of Cloud Operations Customer high traffic, business critical business solutions and environments. This critical position is responsible for making sure that the Cloud Operations Customer infrastructure and connectivity always works.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Manages the load configuration of a central data communication processor and makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks.
  • Proposes and implements network system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the network system.
  • Applies capacity planning to business recommendations.
  • The Sys Admin will be the first point of contact for performance analysis, scalability and service architecture/database administration issues.
  • This position may be asked to coordinate equipment orders including terminals and cable installation, as well as upgrading, monitoring, testing and servicing the database/systems.
  • Sys Admin works as part of the team of Major Incident Management which may occur after normal business hours or on the weekend.
  • Other duties as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Education/Licenses: Degree at the University Level (Bachelor's Degree) in Engineering, Technology or Computer Science
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years Linux System Administration experience, Red Hat Enterprise Linux Versions 5 and 6 highly preferred. Prior experience with database administration or familiarity with dba practices would be a plus. Knowledge of QAD & Progress/Experience supporting QAD products and related technologies preferred but not required.
  • Computer skills: Hands on Linux and Windows operating systems administration capabilities. Industry certifications like OCP, RHCE are preferred. Internal candidates are required to have achieved a technical certification
  • Other knowledge or skills: CS ITIL & systems certifications preferred. Intangibles includes ability to ramp up quickly, ease at working in fast-paced environment, confidence and clear communication skills.
