We are looking for MySQL DBA based in Whiteley, Fareham for one of our esteemed IT services client:

Title: MySQL DBA
Location: Whiteley, Fareham.
Duration: 6 Months

Job Description:

Monitor, maintain, and performance tune various production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability
Participating software development projects as required supporting the application development team in the creation and maintenance of data table structures, queries and stored procedures.
Development and support of Production MySQL databases
Develop and optimize database design for new applications
Design and implement database schema's and manage database releases on test and production servers
Prepare and support database queries and reporting requirements
Setup and support MySQL replication servers
Develop and support clustering
Monitor and optimize MySQL database performance and capacity planning
Plan and execute for database scalability
Trouble shoot database issues and maintain availability
Perform database load testing and benchmarking
Linux and systems administration level Shell Scripting
Preparing technical documentation for end user training

Experience

Experience administering different MySQL table types
Experience with MySQL replication, high performance content delivery, performance tuning/optimization (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning)
Experience with MySQL stored procedures
5 years of experience with MySQL as a Database Administrator in a production environment
Experience with checking for data consistency between master and slaves
Experience with databases running on VMware, XEN or similar
Solid understanding and experience in disaster recovery and high availability, planning, and implementations
Troubleshoot database issues, maintain database systems availability and scalability
Experience with installation, configuration and upgrades of MySQL including
Experience with MySQL backup and restore including backup and restore
Experience with schema refresh and database creation
Provide daily support as well as on-call support for MySQL environment, migrations, and upgrades, including database definition, structure, documentation, and long-term hardware and storage requirements.
Production database administration skills with MySQL Cluster, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server are a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to troubleshoot problems in person, over the phone, or via email.
