Job Summary
The Senior Programmer Analyst will be responsible for data management and ad hoc support tasks as directed by their team lead or business analyst. They should be an experienced, thoughtful, creative and resourceful problem solver with the ability to communicate effectively.
Primary duties, responsibilities, and skills
• Use US consumer and business demographic data collected from multiple sources as well as client customer data to support the development of direct marketing lists and reports for marketing analytic programs and projects.
• Demonstrate proficiency in SQL or SAS programming to produce lists and data extracts on demand.
• Create output reports in text and Excel including pivot tables. Reports will be used to support analytic and operational functions including quality control and marketing campaign performance measurement
• Enforce company quality control standards for all data and report outputs and inputs
• Support the efficient execution of Data Preparation, Hygiene & Processing tasks in accordance with company standards including match / consolidate, suppression processing, overlay / enhancement, address standardization, name parsing and any specific business rules required by company clients
• Edit, Transform, and Load data into databases where data is in disparate data formats, from various data sources and delivered to various data systems, clients and users.
• Exhibit proficiency in Database Programming including scripting and execution of various queries as needed or requested by team lead or business analyst.
• Document specific workflows and processes that relate to the specific task to insure quality of output data and reports.
• Participate in all relevant client / internal meetings supporting detailed work requirements and managing prioritization of work effort.
Education and Experience
• Requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree and 5 -- 7 years of relevant work experience in Data Management and Database Programming.
• Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within in Data Management and Database Programming.
• Demonstrates advanced skills in Query writing and optimization (SQL Server 2000/2005/2008)
• Experience with advanced Data Processing / Manipulation functions such as match/consolidate, name and address parsing, de-duplication, etc.
• SAS Base data step programming experience is a strong plus
• Ability to work independently with limited management direction.
• Ability to lead and train others who are less experienced
• Adept at efficiently and effectively managing flexible schedules and multiple deliverables and customers.
