Our client, a trading technology firm located in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, is searching for a Java Production Support Engineer to join their Java development team. The Java Production Support Engineer role requires strong troubleshooting skills, combined with experience writing and supporting both Core Java ( J2SE ) and J2EE. The Java Production Support Engineer must have the ability to fix production issues, complete bug fixes or escalate them to the development team, and predict and prevent future issues. The Java Production Support Engineer will be directly responsible for supporting mission-critical Java applications in a large distributed Linux / Oracle environment, running on various Java application servers such as WebLogic. Experience writing Stored Procedures and Triggers, and the ability to pick up new technologies quickly is an important part of this role. Requirements:
* 2-5 years of experience supporting applications written in Core Java and J2EE technologies including, but not restricted to, JMS, JSP, JDBC and EJB.
* Experience analyzing production issues, developing bug fixes and coding feature enhancement, in a real-time, mission-critical environment support function of a large enterprise distributed system.
* Working knowledge of TIBCO or MQ Series messaging products.
* Experience working with WebLogic or other application servers, and writing Stored Procedures and Triggers.
* Database administration or design with some type of RDBMS ( Oracle is preferred ).
* Knowledge of basic system administration tasks on UNIX / Linux platforms.
* Financial industry experience is highly desirable.
* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
