The Illini Union at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a talented student affairs professional to serve as a Web Programmer. Founded in 1867, the Illinois campus is one of the original 37 public land-grant institutions. It is one of the top comprehensive research public universities in the nation. The successful candidate will be working on a campus with academically talented and diverse student population, including 19 percent international students, 12 percent Asian American students, 5 percent African American students, and 6 percent Hispanic/Latino students from a total enrollment over 42,000 students. As the community center of the University, the Illini Union draws together all members of the University with approximately 16,000 visits of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests on a daily basis.

Position Functions and Major Responsibilities: Applications are now being accepted for a Web Programmer at the Illini Union's Marketing Department. The Marketing Department provides design and marketing services for Illini Union operations, including student-sponsored programs, the bookstore, hotel, bowling and billiards, and retail operations.

The Web Programmer will be responsible for designing, programming, testing, documenting, deploying, and maintaining Content Management System-based web sites and applications across Illini Union. Through the use of online analytics tools and effective search engine optimization, the Web Programmer will help drive marketing campaigns that increase the visibility of the Illini Union, its program and services.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems Management or related field plus one year of professional experience in a business or university environment is required. This position requires experience with the following: Content Management System-based websites (CMS), ASP.net programming, Visual Studio, SQL server, database systems and data-driven websites. Candidates must also have strong project management experience, as well as experience developing secure applications utilizing technologies such as SSL and data encryption.

Preferred qualifications include: pHp programming, Drupal programming, JavaScript, AJAX, server-side interactions, XHTML, CSS, XML, web programming and HTML.

A demonstrated understanding of basic marketing concepts is helpful, but not required.

Appointment Status: This is a 12-month, full-time academic professional position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and includes an excellent benefits package.
