Under general direction, incumbents are responsible for planning, leading and/or performing all aspects of the technical PeopleSoft infrastructure, including instance/databases; application servers and process schedulers; patches, upgrades and modification planning and implementation; migration and propagation; infrastructure stability and system integrity. Coordinate and enforce standards. May supervise a small technical team as part of a larger project.

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The PeopleSoft Architect is responsible for leading and/or performing the day-to-day management of the technical environment of all PeopleSoft systems, including security setup for developers in the development environments.


Examples Of Duties: Under general direction, duties may include but are not limited to:

Define database backup strategy and coordinate with Data Base Administrator (DBA).

Define, create and maintain Windows application servers and process schedulers.

Define and maintain file server directories.

Manage and apply patches, bundles, updates and tax upgrade releases.

Monitor system performance and coordinate with System Support, DBA, Local Area Network (LAN) group, and Telecommunications.

Assist with production problems and PeopleSoft Cases.

Monitor PeopleSoft Hardware and Software requirements to ensure compliance with Ventura County Information Technology standards.

Update Instances and Environment definitions. Coordinate database instance building and creation with DBA, including recovery modes, use/refresh rules, etc.

Coordinate creation and appropriate directory structures of file systems with UNIX administrator.

Coordinate installation, maintenance and upgrades of support software and third party products (Weblogic, COBOL, Tuxedo, SQR, etc.) with UNIX systems support.

Create and maintain UNIX web domains, PeopleSoft application servers and process scheduler domains.

Create scripts to perform logs/reports maintenance, and configure Crystal reports for users.

Create PeopleSoft homes for DMO, DEV, TST, and PRD.

Configure PeopleBooks and setup traces to support environments for development and troubleshooting.

Maintain servers as required by project and production needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business
Administration or applicable years of experience
2+ years experience in a technical lead role
Comprehensive ability to analyze complex procedures/data and develop logical conclusions; develop plans and achieve objectives
Thorough knowledge of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture and application deployment architecture
Experience in project estimation, scheduling and management techniques
Experience with PeopleSoft tools including Application Designer, Change Assistant, Data Mover, People Code, Application Engine, SPRO Component and SQL required
Experience with PeopleSoft integration technologies including Application Messaging, the
File Utility, Component Interfaces, and PeopleSoft Integration Broker required
Experience with Crystal Reports, NVision and SQR preferred
Demonstrable understanding of web server fundamentals
Formal vendor training on current software/databases is highly desirable
Participate in the analysis, programming, testing, and/or implementation of the PeopleSoft system, and provides lead technical direction to staff
Experience in Higher Education setting is a plus
Demonstrated experience in written and interpersonal communication skills to include facilitating meetings, writing status reports, developing project plans, and generating cost estimates
