Job Description:

The Analyst is responsible for the determination of how best to meet the data processing needs of Miami Dade College users, for design and implementation of systems to meet established requirements, and for the development and support of applications in Information Technology/Client Services.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Designs computer-based data processing systems
Develops computer programs, forms, and manual procedures

Establishes and maintains documentation for implemented systems in accordance with appropriate standards

Designs and suggests optimum methods of problem solving for approval by college administrators

Recommends practices and procedures to effect improvement

Designs computer-based data processing systems using ASP.NET/VB.NET 2.0 or higher interfacing with SQL databases following college standards

Designs reports in SQL Server Reporting Services
Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Masters degree in an appropriate field and three (3) years of data processing experience with an emphasis on systems definition and implementation; or Bachelors degree in an appropriate field with seven (7) years of data processing experience with an emphasis on systems definition and implementation.

Two (2) years of supervisory experience with demonstrated interpersonal skills.

Expertise in applications using ASP.NET/VB.NET 2.0, or higher, developed in Visual Studio 2005 or higher

Strong working knowledge in T-SQL in a SQL Server 2005 and 2008 environment, and a strong working knowledge creating and consuming Web Services

Knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services 2005/2008, knowledge of Directory Services, Component Services (COM+), and familiarity with Java programming

Ability to learn and adapt quickly to the changing college-wide technical environment

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations, and to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

Ability to effectively communicate at all levels; present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff

Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments

Knowledge of computer programming applications or analysis activities

All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
