Our client is a developer of services for next-generation wireless and wired networks. We are right now looking for a developer to implement and assist in the design and optimization oftheir firewall gateway appliance. In this role you will work with various stake holders to translate requirements into an end to end solution. The ideal candidate for this role has a history of implementation and optimization of network based appliances using Linux and/or BSD.Responsibilities:- Participating in a team-oriented environment to develop new web-based applications- Balancing a variety of concurrent projects while meeting deadlines- Demonstrating attention to detail while implementing technical specificationsRequired Skills and Knowledge:- Can demonstrate solid working knowledge of PHP and C- Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking,a) e.g. OSI model, Routing, Firewalling, PF and/or iptables- Thorough understanding of the following protocolsa) DHCP, DNS, HTTP, SSL/TLS- Advanced knowledge of *nix derivatives, specifically Linux and FreeBSD- Technical problem-solving skills, ability to succeed in a fast-moving high-demand environment, and a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” when necessary- Solid understanding of OOP- Solid understanding of data structures and design patterns- Strong problem-solving abilities and an aptitude for learning new technologies- Must possess interpersonal, group discussion, decision making, conflict resolution, andfacilitation skills- Documentation skills and proficiency with MS Office suite of applications- Working experience with Web Services (SOAP and REST)- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, fluency in English. French is a strong assetAdditional Skills and Knowledge:- Distributed Version Control (github / gitorious)- Hands-on knowledge of XML/XSL- Other common languages: Perl, Java, etc…- Basic knowledge of relational databases (MySQL)- Exposure to agile/lean development methodsAsset:- Bachelor's degree in a related field is an asset
