About Us:

Meez is a leading social-entertainment community built around a browser-based virtual world, games, media sharing, and a highly customizable 3D avatar platform. Meez has over thirteen million registered users and is regularly placed in top five US websites for user engagement. We have a great office in the SOMA district of San Francisco and an awesome team of dedicated engineers, artists and animators.

We are a small and fast-moving team with a rich stack and many new initiatives, so the environment offers many opportunities for developers to branch into new areas of interest. Right now we primarily need help with the front-end code for the core site (http://www.meez.com) and other properties.

Help us keep Meez strong by cranking out awesome new features for web and mobile!

Responsibilities:

Re-design existing and implement new UI's in HTML/CSS/JS and other technologies
Explore and design engaging consumer experiences
Implement new features, maintain and integrate with an existing J2EE/JSP codebase
Learn new technologies

Requirements:

Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
Mastery of cross-browser HTML and CSS and an interest in user interface design
Serious knowledge and understanding of JavaScript/AJAX and the DOM
Experience with or ability to pick up as necessary: Java, JSP, REST-ful APIs, and third-party JS frameworks (jQuery, YUI, etc)
Keep up with evolving web standards (HTML5, CSS3) and best practices
Experience with-- or a proven ability to learn-- server-side templating technologies like JSP, PHP, etc.

Bonus Points:

Strong interest in and understanding of social gaming and entertainment
Experience with Facebook or web application development
Experience integrating your work into a legacy codebase and refactoring it as necessary
Working knowledge of HTML5 and related web technologies
Experience developing mobile applications
Flash/AS experience
Experience with a 3D art pipeline
Spring and Hibernate
SQL
