POSITION SUMMARY

Working within the development organization the successful candidate will be working on cutting edge BlackBerry platforms and high-end test equipment. With responsibility for performing and analyzing protocol and interoperability (IOT) on mobiles across multiple air interfaces such as GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA, LTE and CDMA/EVDO RevA. Occasional travel will be required to work with different wireless carriers and to help develop good customer relationships.

Candidates will be required to perform analysis of logs to find the root cause of any problems and to work directly with feature designers to correct handset code for found issues. The successful candidate will analyse test requirements, put together test plans, contribute to executing test cases and provide test reports. He/she will interface with test equipment vendors to investigate issues, and may assist with the development & maintenance of automated test frameworks and test scripts. The candidate must be able to work autonomously and have good time management skills to handle multiple high priority tasks during peak test and product development cycles.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor Degree + 5 years experience or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline.
• Excellent knowledge of wireless communication networks technologies and related signaling protocols, including GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSPA, CDMA, EVDO RevA, LTE, with the ability to critique written test standards and test case implementations.
• 3+ years protocol stack development and test experience, demonstrated ability to work with radio designers to debug issues via handset log analysis.
• 2 years experience using protocol stack test equipment for Carrier Acceptance Testing purposes. In depth understanding of wireless network emulators and test coverage utilised for AT&T, TMO US, Sprint, Verizon, etc...
• 2 years experience working in a highly cross-functional, multi-site software development or software test group.
• 2 years experience working independently at customer and/or 3rd party labs
• Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Highly self-motivated and proactive
• Excellent problem solving skills and attention to details
• Strong desire to learn new technologies
• Solid understanding of mobile phone software and hardware architecture
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to measure and contrast key performance indicators between products.
• Ability to understand complex subject matter across different technologies and draw comparisons.
• Availability to travel internationally sometimes under short notice is an asset.
• Experience with technically mentoring others.

ADDITIONAL ASSETS

• Good knowledge of test requirements and processes applicable to PTCRB and GCF certifications
• Test scripts development experience for protocol stack testing
• Development experience with test automation platforms
