THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL
Generate standard-compliant HTML5/CSS3 web and mobile sites/applications built for speed (table-less, no images when CSS can be used, good CSS, no inline styles…) and cross-device compatibility based on wireframes and design mockups. When applicable, use jquery and other Javascript frameworks for developing client side features and visuals with and without using REST API.
Strong problem solving, technical and communication skills are more important to our team than years of experience.
RESPONSIBILITES
• Participate as a member of a small, agile team, providing guidance around user interface design and implementation
• Write snappy front-end code in HTML5/CSS3 and JavaScript (utilizing good object oriented design practices)
• Hand-code standards-compliant pages using table-less layouts from design mockups
• Must be able to collaborate and communicate with a backend developer and UI/UX designer
• Test code across platforms and browsers (web and mobile)
• Document your work and communicate issues when they arise
• Assist in addressing and quickly fixing production/compatibility issues when necessary
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, constantly-iterating startup environment
REQUIREMENTS
• A passion for developing beautiful front-end and user interface code for scalable web/mobile sites and applications
• Demonstrable proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, and AJAX
• Strong understanding of the unique development best practices and challenges that accompany mobile web development
• Strong understanding of web standards and cross-browser compatibility (incl. mobile browsers)
• Strong understanding of performance, web analytics, SEO techniques
• Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues (a smart learner and teacher)
• Attention to detail
NICE EXTRAS
• Experience with other markup languages not mentioned above
• 3+ years of relevant web development experience
• Computer Science or similarly applicable degree
• Experience with Content Management Systems
• Web graphic design and iconography skills
