he Head of Applications has responsibility for applications (software) development and maintenance across the
organization, for managing the applications team and third party resources where required, and for managing a total
annual budget of $1-$2M.
This position is responsible for defining the target state applications architecture and ensuring successful delivery of
major new systems initiatives to achieve this target state. This position interfaces with business units and users to
understand requirements and translate these into implications for the development and operation of core systems
applications. Ensures high performance in applications development and maintenance, and service quality within the
Applications team; and, improves the performance and functionality of company legacy systems.
Specific responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Develops and implements new complex systems and develops new software solutions which are integrated
into current technology environment.
• Works with senior management to identify, clearly define and prioritize key initiatives and projects.
• Provides leadership around the identification of appropriate technology, as well as the identification of
potential risks and emerging issues.
• Understands the relevant technology landscape and provide best practice and benchmarking advice in
terms of technology direction and solutions selection. In coordination with business units, defines service levels required for critical applications creating the right
trade-off between cost and speed. Ensures all applications function at required levels of performance; have process for monitoring and taking
remediating actions in a timely manner. Tracks, reviews and communicates the performance of critical applications. Manages codification of critical applications knowledge e.g. ensure adequate systems documentation Leads the design and execution of necessary systems training for business users and IT resources (focus
on Yardi). Understands the strategic goals and operation of a ~$23B REIT, with primary focus on Healthcare, Senior
Living and Medical Office Building assets. Identifies and recommends projects to improve performance and functionality of key IT systems. Recommends and executes software acquisitions and contracts and manage relationships with key software
and solution delivery vendors.
