Position Description

Reading Partners seeks an Information Technology (IT) Manager to ensure the streamlined operation of IT functions in alignment with the business objectives of the organization.  S/he will be based in our Oakland Headquarter office and will provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of all internal business information and technology systems. These systems include computers, networks, server, backups, phones, printers, mobile devices, security, email, and all related hardware and software.  S/he will develop the overall visionary for strategic IT planning and will oversee the deployment of IT initiatives throughout for the organization. This position is critical to scale our IT infrastructure to allow this growth to continue. Major responsibilities will include planning; coordinating, directing and designing IT related activities for this growing organization.

The ideal candidate will have superior organizational and multi tasking skills while working well with a wide range of people. Effective performance requires assessing IT problems, finding efficient solutions, and developing a strong IT foundation for future growth.   This is an exciting ground floor opportunity to get involved in rapidly growing non-profit organization in the midst of national expansion.

Responsibilities

The main responsibility will be to Lead Reading Partners' IT department, ensuring that all IT needs for a rapidly growing organization are met and that all employees and remote regions have resources they need by:

Support daily IT Operations

  • Maintain and monitor IT system throughout and interact with staff members and assist with their application and hardware needs
  • Developing IT Tracking system to receive, prioritize, document and actively resolve end user requests
  • Purchasing and configuring new equipment, setting up and administering all hosted service user accounts, and resolving all end user issues (email, Salesforce, etc.)
  • Manage and train staff to use database systems
  • Negotiate and administer vendor and service agreements
  • Issue new equipment to staff and manage inventory including disposing/discharging equipment
  • Serve as primary technical support for readingpartners.org Joomla-based web hosting
  • Escalate problems when appropriate.

Manage and execute new IT projects for future growth

  • Define, implement, and train staff on IT policies, procedures and best practices
  • Develop and implement and support cost effective technology solution
  • Recommendations for the improvement of IT infrastructure and systems to meet expansion needs comprised of 6-8 regional offices and 200+ staff.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent
  • 3-5 years paid experience in IT management (desktop support and network administration)
  • Significant experience working with Macs and PCs within a nationally-scaled organization
  • Extensive experience in the following programs/platforms: Mac OS X Apple Mail, MS Office for Mac, Google Apps, and Google for non-profits
  • Experience in HTML and Java
  • Demonstrated ability to install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair applicable software, hardware and peripherals devices.
  • Strong communication skills with a unique ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, procedures to non-technical users in written and spoken formats.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage vendor relations
  • Significant experience in database administration
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, with a focus on rapport building, listening and questioning skills.
  • Ability to research new technology and problem solve using investigative methods
  • Experience in designing and implementing data backup systems.
  • Proven ability to deploy robust technology solutions for enhanced telecommunications between stakeholders.  teleconference technology, software and hardware.
  • Organized, self-motivated and able to thrive in a team environment
  • Proactive and the ability to multi tasks projects with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Nonprofit organizations
  • Knowledge and working experience with Joomla, Salesforce
  • Helpdesk experience to support a staff of 150+ people

Compensation

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.  This is a full time, exempt, salaried position with comprehensive health, dental and vision benefits, vacation, and sick time.
