Puppet Labs is hiring an organized, diplomatic, and service-oriented Operations Engineer who shares our passion for systems automation, cloud, infrastructure as code and doing the right thing!  In addition to building a fully automated operating environment, you'll also wear the hats of supporting our customer base with their Puppet problems, directly engaging with our community, and acting as a liaison to our Development, Release, QA and Professional Services teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Linux/Unix systems engineering.
• Comfortable with object oriented scripting languages (ideally Ruby, will tolerate Python).
• Knowledge of web application server configuration (Apache, Nginx, Passenger, Mongrel, Thin, Unicorn).
• Skilled in Systems administration, packaging and installer technologies.
• Firm grasp of TCP/IP networking (IPX won't cut it).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to manage workload independently and get the job done.
• Calm under pressure, good under fire.

Preferred but not required:

• Experience with FreeBSD, Solaris, and/or HPUX.
• Experience using Puppet and configuration management systems.
• Familiar with source control systems such as Git.
