We are seeking an associate level application developer who will work in a team that supports the global Pension Advisory Group (PAG).
This candidate will work closely with front and middle office teams to gather and document business requirements. The business supported will be performing financial modeling, trading, risk management and reporting on behalf of clients.
The technology team writes and supports a suite of desktop tools which are critical to PAG's risk management and advisory business. This is a new area of business and growing rapidly.
Responsibilities:

· In depth knowledge of the Java programming language and APIs
· Full application lifecycle experience on multiple projects.
· Proficiency in JUnit, Swing, Spring, Hibernate and Tomcat
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent problem solving skills with enthusiasm for learning and implementing new technologies.
· Extensive experience with application servers such as Weblogic, Websphere etc..
· Proficiency in advanced SQL, stored procedures (preferably Sybase, Oracle)
· Experience with performance tuning
· Experience with emerging technologies such as GWT, AJAX etc..
· Experience in designing quality front-end screens in terms of look & feel, graphics, screen navigation etc..
· Development tasks related to application suite to support the PAG team's business.
· Project management of self contained streams of work within the application.
· Facilitate User Acceptance Testing.
· Provide Support to the PAG team globally.
The position will also be required to formulate business solutions for users, clearly explain process / approach, and quickly resolve issues to meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate has excellent problem solving skills, is interested in working within a team structure, has a positive attitude, and thrives in a dynamic business and technical environment that values change. Candidate must be able to effectively communicate with front office and technology team members.
Candidate should be able to write clear and concise documentation. Typical documentation would be application design, requirements and specification documents.
Familiarity with financial instruments and financial products is not essential; however some basic familiarity with corporate balance sheet concepts (e.g., Asset and liabilities) and generalized asset classes will be useful. The asset classes referenced in this project are hedge funds, indexes, structured products, fixed income bills & bonds, futures, commodities and FX.
The candidate would also bring a passion for technology and the wealth of their experience to the role, suggesting improvements to the environment and being able to take important architectural design decisions.

· Experience in the financial services industry building and supporting applications.
· Knowledge of financial instruments (see above).
· Knowledge of version control practices and procedures. Experience with Subversion preferred, but other platforms will be considered.
