• Performing research and development towards innovative functions of assessment systems
• Supporting systems around hosting, code and data deployments, system back-ups, etc.
Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer will be an integral part of a software development team within client's Computer & Statistical Sciences group. This group of professionals provides custom software solutions for our clients as well as internal support systems. Much of the work we perform is new development, so the right candidate will have the skills needed to perform full life-cycle software development. This includes participation in requirements gathering, application and database design, system documentation, writing and unit-testing efficient code, and deployment.
Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Computer Science and 5+ years professional software development experience
- 3-5 years professional experience utilizing C#, .Net, HTML, and Javascript
- 1+ years SQL experience to include work with relational databases and writing SQL queries
- Competent in Object-Oriented Design Principles
- Self-starting, independent thinker and worker
- Excellent analytical skills
- Highly detail-oriented
- Good communication skills
These can be difficult openings the team can be very particular. Some of the big things are C#, Javascript, ASP.net and relational databases (SQL). We have come across many candidates but are having trouble finding those with a deep understanding of development. Our clients systems are very complex. Also, each developer must have a solid understanding of databases as we do not have our own DBA on staff and developers are required to do their own dba (not all systems will require this up front but could in the future). Local candidates to the DC area are strongly preferred. Those with a attitude of “work hard, play hard” usually do best in this environment.
