DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

The Database Administrator is responsible for coding/reviewing SQL stored procedures, performance and database tuning, data modeling, and the design and implementation of database schemas. Other responsibilities include monitoring, tuning, backup, and recovery of our production database hosted as part of our Software-As-A-Service offering.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, implement and operate database systems for performance and reliability.
• Interact with Software Engineers to ensure the overall application design is optimal. This involves performance data modeling, schema design and query reviews.
• Design databases to include creating the logical models, building physical models and planning system architecture.
• Interface with network, hardware and system operations teams to resolve problems with application/database systems.
• Technical design work, including data modeling, ETL design and reporting interface design.
• Code stored procedures, views, functions, tables, reports, ETL and other database oriented items as needed.
• Responsible for the installation, technical administration, tuning, and monitoring of databases.
• Document database administration standards, policies and procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation.

REQUIREMENTS
• B.S. in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
• At least 3 years of professional experience administering commercial large-enterprise SQL Server 2005/2008 databases.
• Strong understanding of database architecture concepts and interoperability.
• Proficient working with Windows platform with concrete knowledge of system administration/internals.
• Advanced understanding of index optimization and performance tuning in a VLDB environment.
• Proven database engineering experience in large, mission-critical production databases.
• Position requires minimal travel.
